The video game industry is an extremely lucrative industry, making around $US3 billion a year, according to the Australian Interactive Entertainment Association.
It’s not just the blockbuster blockbuster titles that are at risk of being a victim of this, however.
Many more games that are not in the top 100 grossing titles are.
And this is the reason why they are so dangerous, according the AIFA.
The association says violent games are “the number one killer” of young Australians.
So what makes these games so deadly?
The games themselves, the people who play them and their motivations have all been studied in detail.
There are three main components that are important in making a violent game a killer: the player, the audience and the target.
In this video, you’ll find out how the three come together.
You’ll learn how games have evolved to become more violent over time, how to tell a violent story and how to avoid the worst effects of violent games.
Video games can be a great tool to teach children, and it can also be a dangerous tool, says Dr Robert Tufte, a professor of psychology at the University of Sydney.
“It can be very, very dangerous for young children to play violent games, and so violent games can really do damage in a very short period of time,” he says.
Dr Tufet says children can learn about and identify with violent games in a similar way as they learn about drugs and alcohol.
“They have the capacity to understand and empathise with the experience of drugs and they are not easily manipulated,” he explains.
“There is a tendency to seek pleasure, to seek the pleasure of being in control, and that can have long-term consequences for our young minds.”
And when you’re playing violent games at home, it’s very easy to lose track of who’s who.
When you play with your friends, you may not notice who’s in your game and it may be easy to miss who’s really in charge.
It can be even harder to see who’s your friends and family.
“If you’re just playing with friends, it will feel like you’re really playing with everyone, and everyone is playing with you,” says Dr Tefte.
Video games are not always a good thing Video games have a lot in common with alcohol, and Dr Tafte says there are plenty of good reasons for that. “
So when you look at a game, you will see that you are playing with others, and you are not playing with your own family.”
Video games are not always a good thing Video games have a lot in common with alcohol, and Dr Tafte says there are plenty of good reasons for that.
“Video games have lots of social aspects that make them a good place to explore, including the social interaction, the camaraderie, and the fun, which are all very good,” he points out.
“The problem with video games is that they are also a social medium.
So if you are a member of a group and you have a video game, then that group is likely to see you as a threat and you may feel threatened and be less cooperative.”
“And that can lead you to feel alienated from your own group, or to seek out other groups to group with.” “
That can lead to a sort of group dynamics that can become toxic and violent.”
“And that can lead you to feel alienated from your own group, or to seek out other groups to group with.”
The best way to avoid these issues is to not play games, Dr Telfte says.
But this isn’t easy.
If you’re the only person who’s actually playing a video, there is no way to stop it.
“You can only control what you are watching, so you have to make sure you don’t put yourself in that situation where you can be violent,” he adds.
“And if you don and you feel threatened, then maybe that’s what you need to do to protect yourself.”
The good news is that playing violent video games can reduce your risk of developing a gambling problem.
If that’s the case, then games like Call of Duty or Madden may not be a bad idea.
“I don’t think the most likely scenario for someone who plays video games for leisure or socialising is to develop a gambling addiction, because it is unlikely to be a problem,” Dr Talfte says, explaining that it is “not an addiction to video games”.
But if you have some sort of gambling problem, Dr Trafte advises that you seek help.
People with gambling problems will need to be monitored and assessed by a qualified mental health professional to find out whether they are at increased risk of becoming a gambling addict,”
