The NHL’s playoff games this season have averaged less than a million viewers and a loss of $1 million per game since 2012, according to Nielsen ratings data released on Wednesday.
This season’s games have averaged 2.4 million viewers, but the average viewership has dropped from 2.8 million in 2012.
The games are also averaging a loss for the league of $16.3 million, a drop of $6.6 million.
That loss, combined with a decline in viewership from the first seven games of the season, means the NHL’s average price tag of $200 per ticket for the postseason games this year is $19 million less than last season’s total.
The average price for the playoffs this season is $89.7 million, and the average ticket price is $84.7.
The league also reported Wednesday that its average attendance is up 14 percent to 22.5 million.
While the NHL was able to survive this year’s postseason without a playoff-sized attendance drop, the league was still on the hook for $1.6 billion in ticket and concession revenue from its 32 regular-season games this spring.
The National Hockey League has reported an average ticket sale of $4.85 per game, up from $3.85 in 2016, according the league’s 2016 revenue report.
The NBA also reported a drop in ticket sales this season, from 2 million tickets sold in 2016 to 2.1 million this season.
The NBA averaged 2 million seats for each game this season and the NBA had 1.8 more games on television than last year, with a total of 20 games.
The 2017-18 season was the first to see a drop off in the league in terms of total attendance.
Last season, the NBA averaged 21.4 home games per game and the 2018-19 season was a record-setting 27.5 games per night.
The NBAS is still planning to increase the NBA’s average home game attendance from 25.4 to 28.5 home games by 2020.
The NBL also reported that its total revenue in 2017-2018 was $3,924,566, up $3 million from the previous year.
The 2016-17 season was also the first season to see ticket sales fall in the NBL.
The season was capped with the elimination of the 2016-2017 NBL Champion Chicago Bulls.
