On Monday, Google announced that it was launching its own gaming platform, called YouTube Gaming, to cater to gamers interested in the genre of video game.
The platform will initially offer games from independent developers that aren’t part of the traditional video game industry, and will allow users to buy and play them.
“We’re really excited to partner with the medical community,” YouTube gaming co-founder and CEO Kevin Systrom told Bloomberg Businessweek.
“They’re very smart, and we’re really looking forward to seeing how this new platform is going to help our medical professionals.”
In addition to Google, the platform will feature games from the likes of Atari, Konami, and Capcom.
According to the company, the new platform will be available for both iOS and Android devices, as well as a number of other platforms.
Systrom says the platform is a “major milestone” in the company’s evolution into a gaming platform that is focused on gamers.
“I think the medical world has been missing the big picture in gaming for a long time,” he said.
“When we launched YouTube Gaming in 2015, it was a lot of work.

Google said it hopes to offer video games for both children and adults, but said it would not offer “an all-inclusive product that includes all the latest game genres.”
The medical community also needs to find ways to provide “an accurate, personalized, and accessible gaming experience,” Google said.
YouTube Gaming is currently live in beta, and Google has yet to announce an official launch date.
Google also launched its own video-game app called YouTube Kids in January, but it didn’t have the same success as YouTube Gaming.
It didn’t sell as many videos as YouTube Kids, but Google says the company has learned from the experience and plans to expand its service in the future.
